Last night, at the prompting of Microsoft, I installed the Vista Service Pack 1. (I think it was 1: whatever is the one the prompts told me to install.)
Now my monitor display is all screwed up. It seems to have compressed everything, or maybe not "everything" because it's not consistent.
For example, in Windows Live Mail, roughly 45% of the screen on the right side is blank. On the Prescription home page, there is maybe 25% blank space on the right. Most things left-justified seem to have a lot of extra space on the right like that.
Web pages that are instead centered sometimes have an inordinate amount of space on both sides.
Would the Service Pack have somehow changed something in my settings?
Under "View" in IE7, the text size is "Normal," which I think is what it's always been, but I'm not sure. When I experiment by bumping up the size, it doesn't solve the problem. Depending on the site, it either has no effect, or it changes some of the text but seemingly leaves some tiny and compressed, or it changes all the text but has no effect on the background and the rest of the page, which remains compressed with big margins.
The little figure at the bottom right for zooming reads "100%."
I opened my video editing software, and all the tracks have narrowed substantially, the preview screen looks smaller than I remember it, and there is a lot of pointless blank space between items that never used to be there.
I think everything in Control Panel, Display Settings is at the default. I played around with the Resolution but that didn't solve the problem.
A lot of what I'm seeing just seems "off," like I know it's different from before, but I can't always describe how. (And the longer it looks like this, the more my memory fades of what it's "supposed" to look like.)
